ResourcesHabitat use of the culpeo (Pseudalopex culpaeus) in the high Andes of Argentina
Project:
The ecology of the culpeo populations occurring in the high Andes is still little understood. As part of a larger project on the intraguild competition in the mesocarnivores of this region and its effects on the population status of the endangered Andean cat (Leopardus jacobita), we are carrying out a camera trap survey in an area at over 4200 m of elevation of the NW Argentine province of Jujuy. The project goal is to describe the use of habitat by culpeos and compare it to those of sympatric Andean cats and Pampas cats (Leopardus colocolo). This project is led by GECM (Grupo de Ecología Comportamental de Mamíferos), UNS and CONICET, and Andean Cat Alliance (AGA).
