Canid Conservation in the Gobi-Steppe ecosystem of Mongolia

Project:

Our project focuses on corsac foxes, red foxes, and grey wolves in the arid steppes of Mongolia.  We use science to understand the behaviour and ecology of each species and how various landscape factors influence their distributions.  We also address issues related to their conservation such as conflict with livestock activities and the effectiveness of protected area activities on populations.  The project is based in Ikh Nart Nature Reserve in Dornogobi Aimag, and is a collaborative effort between the University of Vermont, Denver Zoological Foundation, and Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
